New Chord : G
The trickiest part of the G chord is your third finger. For the first couple of times you may have to take your right hand, grab your 3rd finger and place it where it belongs on the 3rd fret of the 2nd string. THIS IS OK! we haven't used our third finger in a chord yet, so it has some catching up to do. Really practice these 4 chords and then do the ukulalien practice. First, get comfortable with the progression using beat strumming. Once you are comfortable try out the suggested strum pattern. They write it as D DU UDU. D= Down U= Up. When you UP strum use your first finger to pull from the 1st string up to the 4th string.
Every beat can be divided into parts. If we consider each beat divided into 2 parts down or up. Here's what that strum pattern looks like.
Notice on beat 3 that the Up strum happens on the 2nd half of the beat. Sometimes its helpful to say " down, down, up. up down up. down, down, up. up down up." Start slow, and grow from there.
For the Chord practice video- each chord is played for 8 beats. Use beat strumming or the suggested strumming either one.
For your Purple Belt Test you will play the progression from the video. YOU MAY USE BEAT STRUMMING for this belt test. I am looking for chord clarity and change. Here is your progression.
